Visit to the Helsinki-Vantaa Air Traffic Control Centre

Visit to the Helsinki-Vantaa Air Traffic Control Centre

On 21 and 23 March 2026, a group of our club members visited the Helsinki-Vantaa air traffic control centre. During the visit they got an extensive look at the different functions of air traffic control: the tower (TWR), approach control (APP), area control (ACC), the airspace management unit (AMC), and the flight planning centre (FPC).

The visit offered a unique opportunity to see up close how Finland’s busiest airport and the surrounding airspace are managed in practice - from runway control all the way to broader airspace coordination.
